The further training will cover the following subjects:
- Driving in town
- Driving in all weather
- Out of town driving
- Driving at night
- Dual carriageway driving
- Motorway driving
If you successfully take the Pass Plus course, you will receive a certificate stating you have completed it, which you then show to your insurance company, who may give you a discount on your first years insurance.
The discount will vary between insurers, and will depend on different criteria, such as the car you are insuring, it's age, engine size, value, make and model etc, also your postcode and age etc.
You will have one year after passing your driving test to take advantage of the Pass Plus scheme.
Be aware of the " New Drivers Act", which means that any driver who passes their test after 1st June 1997 and goes on to collect 6 or more penalty points on their licence within their first 2 years of driving will lose their licence. It will be revoked by the DVLA and that person will have to take the theory/hazard perception test and their driving test again.
Who wants to go through all that again?
By taking the Pass Plus course, you are ensuring that you get the best training in situations you couldn't do on your lessons, i.e. motorways. Ensuring when you are in these situations for yourself, you know what you are doing, you are at less of a risk in causing an accident through lack of knowledge, and protecting your licence at the same time.
Talk to your instructor for more information about Pass Plus, how and when to take it.

How it works.
With Go-Pass (UK) you have 2 options for taking your Pass Plus in Hastings.
Option 1
Taken as 2 separate 3 hour lessons on separate days.
Each 3 hour lesson will include a briefing at the start of each lesson, one and a half hours' driving, a short comfort break, to include a snack if required and a lesson recap, then a briefing for the next stage, and a full recap at the end of each lesson.
Option 2
Taken as the entire 6 hour course on the same day.
This will begin with a briefing, a 2 hour drive covering core elements of the course, a comfort break, snack, recap and a briefing for the next stage, a 2 hour drive, a further break, recap and briefing, then the final 2 hour section, finishing with the final recap at the end of the course.
Pupils should be aware that they will have to allow for the whole day, i.e. 8 hours when they book this option, to include the 6 hours course plus breaks, and the possibility of any traffic delays.
This option is our most popular with pupils as it means they are not waiting for their driving instructor too often after they have passed their test, they can do the full 6 hours in one day, then its done.
It is not necessary to do manoeuvres on the Pass Plus course, but if you wish, you can, i.e. parking in a multi-storey car park if you've never done it before. However, you do have to satisfy your instructor that you are safe in these further situations, which is demonstrated by your driving during the course.
If you listen to your instructors advice and put in to practice all that you are taught, you should be able to enjoy "Safe driving for life".
